SOLVING PROBLEMS

In any situation, solving problems is an essential part of life. In an organization, however, problems need to be solved on a daily basis and as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. Problems that remain unsolved can cause many other problems to emerge which can cost a lot of money and the loss of market share. Because games are essentially about solving problems quickly with limited resources, it is quite practical to use game mechanics in a corporate setting to design game simulations that bring about solutions effectively and creatively.

Very often, problems are difficult to solve because there is resistance that results from a fixed way of thinking and perception. With well-designed game simulations, new and creative ways can be found on a regular basis that create a new habit of positive and strategic problem solving. If a specific problem exists, we can design a simulation or inject certain game mechanics into the situation that will generate the specific actions that bring about the solution.
